Center for Professional and Continuing Education

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute

Fall Term is Beginning Soon!!

As we begin our 5th year as OLLI@Pacific I think it is appropriate to reflect on past experiences and accomplishments as well as anticipate things to come.

We have come a long way from that beginning in the Fall Semester of 2006.  Blessed with having a few years’ experience as Pacific Experience, the receipt of the Osher Foundation grant enabled us to build on success by expanding the numbers and frequency of programs, cultivating new faculty resources and adding new locations for programs.  As a result, membership increased exponentially, infrequent members became permanent members and the benefits of lifelong learning became a shared common belief with more and more people.

Looking forward, we will continue to do all within our power to offer programs of great variety that appeal to the wide interests of our members.  We will make every effort to maintain high quality standards when selecting potential faculty.  We will attempt to be current with recent developments in technology, politics, world and local events, and science.  We will continue to be responsive to the desires of you, our members, and will continue to welcome suggestions regarding programming as well as operations.

As you peruse this schedule of classes, be sure to check out our new short course offerings: Computers, French Language and Culture, and The Metropolitan Opera simulcast lectures.  Also new is a workshop on Medicare Part D.  As is true each semester, the weekly lecture series features a different speaker and topic each week of the semester.  And for those of you who missed them the first (or second) time offered, returning courses include Watercolor, Spanish, Beginning Piano, Beginning Autobiographical Writing, Tai Chi, Yoga and the Film Series and OLLI Book Club.

Again, welcome to fall at OLLI@Pacific – where curiosity never retires
